Legal & Policy Services The Arkansas School Boards Association offers a variety of services to school board members as noted in the About ASBA section of the Web site. Among the most widely used are ASBA’s legal and policy services. One staff attorney and ASBA’s general counsel assist school board members and superintendents with invaluable advice and counsel regarding school operations, including personnel matters. When ASBA’s attorneys assist in school matters, the client is the local school board. For additional information, view the topics listed in the box to the right. ASBA offers seminars related to legal topics such as school law, ethics, personnel discipline and due process, investigating sexual misconduct and more. Please see the Conferences and Seminars information under Board Development. The ASBA Model Policy Service helps subscribing districts maintain current policies that are researched by ASBA staff and legal counsel to meet current legal requirements and rules established by state and federal agencies. See the Policy Service page for additional information. |
