January 15, 2014--You are a school board member who wants to make a difference, who wants your board to play a key role in your school district's success. So kick off the New Year with new learning opportunities! The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) is offering new this year, Regional Winter Institutes in the four corners of our state. ASBA has teamed up with four education service cooperatives to bring you a training event that will allow you to explore and analyze school finance and identify best practices for promoting your district's success. Financial advisors from First Security/Beardsley Public Finance and Stephens Inc. will provide an overview of the unique facets of Arkansas school finance. Participants will gain an understanding of the factors that influence the funding of their particular school district. You will finish the evening with a session on becoming a positive spokesperson for your school district. Veteran school board members will share proven ideas and strategies to help you support and promote district concerns, achievements and goals with students, staff and community members.
