TITLE IX COMPLIANCE: NAVIGATING FEDERAL REGULATIONS TO PROTECT YOUR DISTRICT, STUDENTS & STAFF
Presenter: Cody Kees, Attorney at Law, Bequette, Billingsley & Kees, P.A.
Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. It requires educational institutions to operate in a nondiscriminatory manner and to provide students and employees with an environment safe from sexual harassment, including sexual violence. Title IX obligations apply to key areas of responsibility such as athletics, employment, financial assistance, recruitment, admissions, counseling, treatment of pregnant and parenting students, and single-sex education.
ASBA is offering training to help you develop a full understanding of your district’s responsibility under the Title IX umbrella. Those who train will receive model forms and a step-by-step guide for how complete them to help you with Title IX investigations and complaints.
