Congratulations on your election to the school board! It’s time to roll up your sleeves and get to work. ASBA can help you build a strong foundation for the journey ahead. Our Summer 2025 New Board Member Institute is scheduled for June 17, 2025, at the DoubleTree Hot Springs, or you may attend virtually. 

Join us for this one-day institute designed with you in mind. This session meets the state-mandated training requirements and goes beyond the basics to equip you with practical tools, confidence, and clarity for your new role.

Whether you're newly elected or just looking for a reset, this training includes: 

  • The powers and responsibilities of school board members 

  • Understanding school budgets and audits 

  • FOIA and ethics laws 

  • School safety and student discipline 

  • How decisions at the board table impact student outcomes 

You'll leave with a better understanding of your role, a copy of the ASBA New School Board Member Handbook, and connections with fellow board members from across the state.  The day's full agenda is coming soon!

WHEN: Tuesday, June 17, 2025  

  • Check-in & Breakfast: 7:30 a.m.  

  • Conference Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. 

  • Lunch: Included for in-person attendees 

WHERE:  

  • DoubleTree Hot Springs (4813 Central Ave, Hot Springs, AR) OR  

  • Virtual 

TRAINING CREDIT: Six (6) Hours 

REGISTRATION DETAILS: 

IN-PERSON: 

  • $205 per person (through June 3, 2025)  

  • $225 per person (after June 3, 2025)  

  • Online Registration Closes: 4 pm, Thursday, June 12 

  • Onsite Registration: $225 for members, $325 for non-members  

VIRTUAL: 

  • $170 per person (through June 3, 2025)  

  • $185 per person (after June 3, 2025) 

  • Registration open until Tuesday, June 17.  

  • A Zoom registration link will be included in your confirmation email. Click the link to register on the Zoom platform and receive the link to join (no additional fee required).  

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: 

  • 100% Refund: Requests received through June 3, 2025  

  • 50% Refund: Requests received after June 3, 2025  

  • No Refunds: After Monday, June 16, 2025
