A recent survey of newer board members in Arkansas shows that the number one thing they wish they’d known more about early in their service was school finance. Because many board members have shared that they need more, we will provide additional training that we are calling New Board Member Finance Part II - Beyond the Basics. Veteran board members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
This two-hour training will be offered virtually on the evening of Thursday, August 12, via Zoom. Our presenter will be Dr. Greg Murry, recently retired superintendent from Conway SD. Dr. Murry will use his engaging presentation style to provide you with good practical information about school finance and budgeting to ensure that you’ll be much more comfortable as a board member when it comes time to participate with your fellow board members in providing fiscal oversight of your district’s finance and budget. The session will begin at 6:00 p.m. and dismiss at 8:00 p.m.
The cost is $75 per person. Requests for cancellation must be in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org. Cancellation requests received through August 6, 2021, will be refunded at 100 percent. Cancellation requests received after August 6, 2021, will be refunded at 50 percent. There will be no refunds for cancellations after August 11, 2021.
