School Board Recognition Month

As citizens who serve students and represent their communities, school board members face complex and demanding challenges. The month of January is designated as School Board Recognition Month to honor those individuals who serve Arkansas schools and their students. They are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing school districts.

While school board members come from all walks of life, these individuals come together on their school boards with the common goal of helping students grow, learn, and enjoy their educational experiences. They are deeply involved in their communities and spend many hours serving their schools, students, and communities.

Before leaving office in December, Governor Asa Hutchinson declared January 2023 as Arkansas School Board Member Recognition Month. ASBA continues to observe the practice of recognizing and thanking our membership, school board members, in the month of January.

We hope you’ll take this opportunity to use the resources and activities linked below to acknowledge the board members who make the time to share their leadership and voice about the future of Arkansas students.
